Christian Herold’s passion for boating began at an early age, growing up on the water and learning to sail on a Force 5—an unforgiving but formative experience. He later transitioned to his grandfather’s Tiara before ultimately joining the U.S. Coast Guard, where he built an extensive maritime career spanning 30 years.
Experience & Expertise
With a background in yacht brokerage, marina management, vessel inspections, and emergency response, Christian brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on expertise to BVI Yacht Sales. Before joining the team, he was a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) at Sea Lake Yachts, where he was the top-performing broker on St. Croix, managing over 25 listings totaling more than $4 million in sales.
His previous roles include:
- 23 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he operated boats up to 47’ in storm conditions and served as a Deck Watch Officer on ships up to 270’.
- Marina and yard manager at St. Croix Marine Center, overseeing daily operations, vessel maintenance, and client service.
- Operations Manager for the largest oil spill response organization in the Caribbean, managing a fleet including a 240’ tank barge and a 110’ response vessel.

When not working, Christian is most often found diving, exploring the depths between 60 and 140 feet, where he finds his version of “zen.” His deep-seated passion for the ocean extends far beyond the surface, making him a true waterman at heart.
