The BVI Releases New Covid Entry Requirements
The Government of the BVI has released new 2021 Coronavirus entry requirements for fully vaccinated travellers
In a cabinet meeting on April 23rd, 2021, the Government of the BVI made the following adjustments to the Covid-19 entry protocols regarding fully vaccinated travellers:
“Effective 15th May 2021, fully vaccinated persons travelling from overseas would require a PCR test within five (5) days of travel, provide satisfactory evidence of being fully vaccinated, and will be subject to a PCR test upon arrival (day zero). Fully vaccinated persons will be quarantined until a negative test result is received from the BVI Health Services Authority. In other words, if the test administered on arrival returns a negative result, the fully vaccinated traveler will be immediately released from quarantine (unless they have been in close contact with a positive case).” This indicates person who test negative may be subjected to only a 12-24 hour quarantine, dependent on how quickly results are issued.
Minister Malone explained that a person is deemed to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after they have received both doses of an approved two-dose vaccine, such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, or Moderna or one shot of a single-dose vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson.
All other travelers will be required to quarantine for 4 days and will remain subject to the previous requirements that go alongside this, however, travelers on vessels will be allowed to navigate around approved moorings.
The vessel, guests, the entire party, and the 30-foot radius around the vessel is your “mobile bubble”. Guests may swim and enjoy the BVI within that 30-foot radius.
BVI Seaports partially reopen to international visitors
From April 2021, the BVI Road Town ferry terminal will be reopened to international visitors, in a limited capacity, where health officials and other resources have been set up to screen incoming passengers. The reopening of the marine borders to international traffic comes after three previous postponements.
The entry requirements for the seaport are currently the same as for the international airport, the details of which can be found on the BVI Gateway Portal. On completion of all steps you will be prompted to pay $175 for your COVID-19 entry fees, which no longer includes transportation costs.
There is currently one international ferry return service running daily, of which the schedule can be found here.
