If you are looking for a truly fast , safe , and comfortable blue water cruiser
that can handle just about anything Mother Nature can throw at you, then
Ariana is the boat for you. Ariana was constructed under the supervision of the
owner / surveyor and has many custom features like horizontal stringers every
12″.
The present owner has lovingly and carefully methodically gone through the
entire vessel, paying attention to every detail to ensure that she is ready to
make offshore passages by just adding provisioning.
Details like good catches on all doors and drawers and lockers , so nothing
opens accidentally in a sea way.
The sheer heavy displacement and stiffness ensures that she never pounds when
coming off big waves, ensuring great confidence in the integrity of the vessel.
Ariana can easily be sailed short handed , and whilst there is no water maker or
generator she carries sufficient fresh water to be self sufficient for long
periods of time at sea . The present owner raced her occasionally in offshore
races with much success. He is selling her only because of his age now, and know
that when you view her you will find it very hard to find any faults in the
vessel.
History of Ariana :
She had been based out of New England until 2019 and now out of Antigua since
then. The original owner had this vessel built at Sen Koh Shipyard in Taiwan and
personally oversaw construction with a surveyor in 1987 and then she was shipped
to the US 1n 1989 but had never been never fitted out when I purchased her in
1992. I have since owned her and have over 50,000 offshore miles with her
including 12 trips to/from New England/Caribbean and 11 Bermuda 1-2 races where
we always placed (Bermuda1-2.org…see the race archives). My personal best
singlehanded B1-2 race to Bermuda is 77 hours, including 100 miles of light air
at the end. She is a true ocean greyhound and can outpoint most boats. The teak
deck and cockpit have been professionally refurbished using TDS system full
depth re-caulking, selected plank replacement, and screw removal /replacement
with epoxy and full depth bungs in 2021. The rudder was removed for internal
inspection and professionally rebuilt with new foam, biax/epoxy layup and
fairing in 2022. She sailed from Virginia to Antigua in November 2019 and was
laid up ashore since June 2020, then launched and recommissioned in March 2023.
All systems/electronics are commissioned and functional.
“I was looking for an offshore vessel that could support singlehanded offshore
passages. Upon receiving the construction plans from the designer I knew this
was the one. She was built at the Sen Koh Shipyard in Taiwan under the owner’s
supervision with a surveyor in 1987 and then was shipped to the US in 1989 and
was never commissioned. i purchased the vessel in 1992 and delivered to New
England. She is built of solid FG with FG hat stringers 12″OC and 2″ FG floors
20″ OC. All Bulkheads are properly glassed in with foam margins to eliminate
hard spots. There are no liners which result in a quiet boat in a seaway. Her
displacement and deep forefoot ensures no pounding and a comfortable ride
offshore. All drawers, sole boards, and heavy equipment have positive fasteners
and retainers for offshore passages. After over 50,000 offshore miles I can
attest that she is still a great sea vessel .”
