Description

Touch of Grey is a perfectly maintained (logged), never chartered example of a modern German-built performance cruiser, blending ease of handling with strong sailing capability. Equipped with a self-tacking furling jib and a 7 ft draft, she delivers excellent upwind performance, while dual steering stations provide great visibility and control from the spacious cockpit. At anchor, the drop-down swim platform offers an ideal space for entertaining guests.

Below deck, the two-cabin layout provides excellent guest privacy along with additional storage, keeping the interior uncluttered. The spacious, bright, and airy saloon also offers sleeping accommodations for up to (3) additional guests. Large hull windows and numerous opening portlights allow for abundant natural light and excellent ventilation throughout.

Built using modern fiberglass construction and designed to CE Category A (Ocean), she is well-suited for offshore cruising and ready to go anywhere safely. Stepping aboard from the drop-down swim platform, you are welcomed into a spacious cockpit with twin helm stations and a central table, protected by a bimini and spray dodger. Sail handling is easily managed from the cockpit, with (4) Lewmar ST winches, one of which is electric, along with a self-tacking furling jib, electric windlass, and bow thruster.

Stepping below, the galley is located to starboard and is well-equipped with a top-loading refrigerator and separate freezer, propane range, and sinks. Aft of the galley is a very large storage area, a notable benefit of the two-cabin version. Engine access is located below the companionway, providing practical and convenient serviceability.

Accommodation

This is a two stateroom / two head vessel which provides a larger galley and extensive storage compared to the (3) stateroom version. Both staterooms sleep two, with additional sleeping accommodation for up to (3) people available in the saloon. Throughout the vessel there is five-zone Eberspacher diesel air heating and circulation, a classic teak stripe effect sole, and American cherry laminated marine plywood interior joinery. There are (4) large Lewmar hatches and (4) smaller Lewmar hatches, all fitted with OceanAir blinds and bug screens, along with (5) opening ports and (6) non-opening ports in the accommodation areas, also with OceanAir blinds. Lighting includes overhead, indirect, and night-mode options, as well as (7) reading lamps, all with night mode. Storage is well thought out with wall lockers, shelving, sole hatches, and additional space under and behind seating.

The forward owner’s stateroom features a large double V-berth with a deluxe pocket spring mattress, hanging locker, cabinets, and hull-side shelving. The ensuite head compartment includes a shower, vanity sink unit, and cupboards. The saloon, located amidships, offers hardwearing cream fleck upholstery, (2) corner seats to port, and a U-shaped dinette to starboard seating (6–9) with a two-sided folding table and bottle locker below. The settee area converts into a double bunk.

The navigation area and control panel are located amidships to port and include a chart table that lowers and converts into a coffee table or single bunk in combination with the corner seating. A 24-inch TV is mounted above the chart table, and Apple TV allows chartplotter output to be displayed on the TV via an iPad. The L-shaped galley is located aft to starboard.

The guest head to port includes a vanity sink unit with cupboards and a separate shower stall / wet locker. The aft guest stateroom to port features a large double berth, hanging locker and cabinets, fixed and opening ports, a Caframo Bora fan, storage below the bunk, and access to additional storage space in the transom.

The companionway stairs have a gentle slope (approx. 50 degrees) and provide access to the engine bay, along with an integrated extinguisher access point.

Owner’s Comments

Since purchasing Touch of Grey in Annapolis, MD in 2019, she has taken us from Key Largo through the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the USVI and BVI, and throughout the Windward and Leeward Islands down to Trinidad. She has been a true joy to sail and live aboard, and we hope she brings her next owners the same level of adventure and exploration.
