Description

The Gulfstar Hirsch 45 “Halcyon” is a proven bluewater cruising yacht thoughtfully equipped for comfortable long-range living and offshore passagemaking. Designed as a spacious 2-cabin, 2-head center cockpit cruiser, she offers an exceptionally comfortable layout with a large aft owner’s stateroom featuring a walkaround queen berth, private ensuite head with separate shower, abundant storage, and excellent ventilation throughout. Forward, a generous guest cabin and second head provide ideal accommodations for family or guests, while the warm teak interior creates a classic and inviting liveaboard atmosphere.

Over the past five years, Halcyon has cruised extensively throughout the Caribbean with her current owners and has benefited from numerous upgrades and careful maintenance. Her rebuilt Perkins 4108 diesel engine (2022) delivers economical cruising at less than half a gallon per hour, while upgraded electrical systems include 680 watts of solar, Victron inverter and monitoring systems, AGM battery banks, and a quiet-run generator for extended off-grid capability. New standing and running rigging installed in 2022, along with a versatile sail inventory including gennaker and storm sail, make her well suited for offshore cruising.

Halcyon is equally manageable for a couple or solo sailor and is known for her smooth, stable motion underway. Deck equipment includes a robust ground tackle setup with a 75lb Mantis anchor and new chain, Mur windlass, dinghy davits, cockpit enclosure, bow shade awning with rain catchment, and extensive safety gear. Electronics include Garmin chartplotter, Raymarine autopilot with remote, dual-station VHF, Bluetooth stereo, and full navigation lighting.

Storage aboard is exceptional, with ample space beneath the sole, under berths, behind seating, and throughout numerous lockers and cabinets, making extended cruising practical and comfortable. Included onboard are comprehensive maintenance records, manuals, spare parts, tools, and receipts documenting her restoration and upgrades. Halcyon represents an excellent opportunity to own a capable, economical, and comfortable cruising yacht ready for her next adventure.

Owners Comments and Boat History

Halcyon comes with a comprehensive collection of engine and onboard equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and receipts documenting her recent restoration and upgrades. She has an interesting history, having passed through several caring and responsible owners, including a period where she was seized by the DEA, before being lovingly restored to her former glory.

Her current owners have spent the last five years cruising throughout the Caribbean aboard her and have greatly enjoyed her comfort, efficiency, and seaworthiness. Storage onboard is exceptional, with ample space beneath the sole, behind the salon seating, under both berths, and throughout numerous lockers, cabinets, and closets, including a large pantry ideal for extended cruising.

Halcyon is a capable and comfortable sailing vessel that tracks flat when needed and moves smoothly through the water, while her classic teak interior offers both timeless beauty and practical functionality. Easily managed by a couple and equally suitable for solo sailing, she features excellent engine access from both the primary engine room door and a secondary hatch through the shower area, making maintenance and service work straightforward.

Operating costs remain refreshingly reasonable, with the engine consuming less than half a gallon per hour, while her accessible systems layout helps keep upkeep simple and affordable.
