Here we have a classic 1972 Moody Carbineer 44 pilothouse ketch, rarely available on the market! These versatile pilothouse cruising yachts should be viewed to appreciate the quality and space on offer. Great for liveaboard or bluewater cruising with a moderate draft for local cruising too. This one could use some love and cosmetic maintenance but has a strong engine and some recent upgrades that are essential for safe, comfortable cruising. The vessel spent all of its life next to the yard in Southampton where it was built, only being used to the Isle of White. The current owner purchased the vessel in 2018. He fitted a new bow thruster and the vessel sailed to the Canary Islands for 2 years then took the boat across the Atlantic. Since then has spent winters traveling around the Caribbean. Other recent upgrades include; New batteries, charging system, fridge, Victron inverter charger fitted 1 1/2 years ago in St Lucia. New auto pilot fitted in Antigua December last year and New starter motor fitted in Puerto Rico.

First seeing the vessel I liked the quality of the woodwork and the amount of space. I wanted a separate galley and wheel house with all around visibility when in bad weather. It is an ocean going vessel which never moved more than 20 miles from where it was built. I sailed it to the Canary islands that year then to the Caribbean two years later. We have used it for 4 months over the winter for the last few years visiting most of the islands. It has a very powerful engine if needed and can carry a large amount of fuel 160 gallons and 1000 liters of water so we do not have to visit marinas. I fitted a bow thruster to make docking a lot easier. Survey available from December 2019.
